Reasons for homeschooling in this political and economic climate

It’s a tough time in which we are living.  Many families have lost their main source of income, and jobs in some sectors are non-existent.  Far-reaching changes are happening at lightning speed within our government policies that are affecting all areas of our lives. As United States citizens, it is our privilege and duty to be informed of policy and legislative matters, and to take appropriate action to preserve our rights and protect the positive future of our children.

The educational system has long been valued as the touchpoint of social change that is imparted to the next generation. Currently, a large number of voices are having influence over our children within the school settings. Parents have the opportunity to understand the issues and make wise educational choices that will protect children and properly prepare them for adulthood.

I have been asked to speak at the Gilbert TEA Party meeting on the impact of current government policies on the various schooling venues.  This presentation will be an overview of the educational options that families have in the United States and will address these issues:

Comparison of educational venues:

  • Public school, including charter and virtual schools
  • Private school
  • Homeschooling

Historical perspective on each option and current concerns

  • Why parental involvement is crucial in each area

Why home education is the fastest-growing venue

  • Debunking myths about homeschooling
  • How homeschooling could be a viable option for your family
  • Resources for making wise educational choices for your children

The TEA Party meeting is open to anyone, and families in the Gilbert area are especially encouraged to attend.

Tuesday January 26, 2010 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.
Val Vista Lakes Clubhouse
1600 E Lakeside Drive, Gilbert, AZ 85234
Donations appreciated of $2.50 per person

The Gilbert group has weekly meetings, and welcomes all patriots who want to defend our constitution. They are growing rapidly and would like to assist groups that want to expand in the East Valley.

The next TEA Party date for all the East Valley cities has been set for April 15, 2010. The details are still being worked.   Here is a video showing some reasons that the TEA Party movement is growing so rapidly.

If you are planning to attend this meeting, please put a note in the comments section below.  I would love to meet other current or potential homeschoolers who are present.
