Stop the meltdown! Partnering with Parents offers coaching to parents for writing instruction

As a homeschool parent, I can testify that teaching writing to your children can be a daunting task. Creative expression is so personal, coming out of the depths of one’s soul, that any helpful comments can be seen as criticism of the student as a person.  (We had meltdown experiences over this.)  Often, parents don’t feel comfortable with the writing standards themselves, and are even less at ease with teaching them to others.

As difficult as the task may be, excellent writing skills are crucial for the majority of occupations and college entrance, and many adults are sorely lacking in this area.  How do you provide the besst opportunity for your students when writing is not your forte?

Mary Dehm is a retired teacher with a specialty in reading and language arts.  She loves to provide coaching to parents so they can learn how to teach composition to their own children and improve their own abilities.

Beginning in February, Mary will offer a four session course for parents only, and is excited to provide fun and creative, practical tips for developing good writers.  Class size is limited to 6 adults, and three sessions are available at different locations and with emphasis on different age groups.
