AZ AIMS scholarship is unchanged–for now–but more cost saving cuts for the funds are likely soon.

The Arizona Board of Regents met on Thursday to decide the fate of the AIMS Scholarship, also known as the Regents High Honors Endorsement.  This has been a tuition waiver at Arizona state universities specifically for those students who exceeded standards on all three portions of the Arizona AIMS tests  Several proposals were on the table, one of which was to have the gift be a one-time $1000 package rather than full tuition for four years.

That action was dropped under the the persuasion of Regent Dennis DeConcini, but no further action was taken at the July 15th meeting.  According to the press release from the Board of Regents,
A decision is scheduled to be made at the August 4-5, 2010, ABOR meeting to be held at the ASU Tempe
campus.

No indication is given as to what type of plan may be under consideration, but all three of the state universities want to cut the program and use the money saved for other scholarships.
