Here’s a great homeschool art project to cap off the summer

The summer has gone by much too quickly, and many homschool families have already started the new school year.  Here is a great way to have a fun activity to cap off the vacation months and celebrate the start of another year of homeschooling.

Angie Platten is a very creative artist who has been working with the homeschool community this past year, and has a passion for helping children understand  a variety of artistic media.  Her creations reflect a more spontaneous, free-flowing approach to art and how one views the world, so the classes take the students into a new realm of applying concepts to the selected projects.

She will also be teaching several art classes at Covenant Home School Resource Center in Phoenix for the 2010-2011 school year.

Angie’s next art workshop will be An Adventure into Collage

The beloved artist and author of children’s books, Eric Carle, is the inspiration for this class. Children will start the class by creating a drawing to be used as a pattern. They will then get messy with paint creating a variety of textured papers which will be used to create their colorful collage on canvas board. They will leave class with a beautiful, original piece of wall art ready for hanging!

Date: Wednesday, August 25, 11:00 AM-2:00 PM (bring a lunch–students will get a break to eat)
Location: Covenant Home School Resource Center
      1117 E. Devonshire Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85014
Grades: 2nd-5th
Class size: maximum 8 students
Cost: $20 per student (all materials supplied)
*We will be getting messy so please have students dressed accordingly.

RSVP and Registration:  Contact: Angie Platten 602-368-2593 or email.  Pre-registration is required with payment so that materials can be on hand for your student.  Space will fill quickly, so register now.

Check out Angie’s works which are done in a variety of media.

This class for the students is paired with a parent workshop at the same time and location, so their needs can be met while the children are in a class.  Parents are able to get Parent Education Credits, and any parent is welcome to attend.  Holly Craw, a veteran homeschooler and service provider of over 23 years will be the presenter.

The parent workshop that day will be Developing Good Study Skills.
