The homeschool parent is doing far more than simply providing an academic education.  One huge task, especially for a crazy economy, is training students to be good money managers who know how to stay out of debt, invest wisely, and handle finances according to Biblical principles.

Many parents these days are finding that they don’t excel in these skills themselves, so teaching the concepts to their students may not be so easy.  Fortunately, there are many resources available to the homeschool family to aid in this process.

Dave Ramsey has known the down-side of poor money management.  He had a net worth of over a million in his early twenties, and lived the high life for a couple of years.  Quickly becoming overextended, he soon went into bankruptcy and lost everything he had. This sent him on a journey to understand how money works, how to build wealth and how to keep it.  He has published several books and resources (Financial Peace, Dumping Debt, Total Money Makeover) and a homeschool curriculum (Foundations in Personal Finance).
