Homeschool 101 Testing: Does Iowa test score tell the grade my student is in? – Phoenix Homeschooling | Examiner.com

Homeschool families use standardized testing for a variety of
reasons.  Sometimes, it is to find a baseline to determine what grade
level is apporpriate for the student’s current skill set
. Below,
a mom asks some relevant questions about what the test scores actually
disclose about the student’s performance and readiness.

I am interested in the IOWA Testing for my two home schoolers that was listed in your latest news letter.  I have a few questions, however.

Does the IOWA test by grade level (ie she is 11, 6th grade) or does the
IOWA test the child and then give me grade levels where she is

My youngest has dyslexia and dysgraphia.  How much writing is involved
and are the tests timed?  Depending on how the test is structured, she
may not need any accomodations.

Thank you.
