Homeschool parents:  Do you have a good handle on the pulse of the homeschooling community?  Do you have ideas for ways the homeschooling face of Arizona can be improved?

The homeschool division of Maricopa County Schools department is responsible for collecting affidavits to register homeschooling students. For the most part of the last two and a half decades, this is one government agency which has been a helpful resource to families who are schooling their children at home.  The staff have collected information on homeschool resources and posted them on the homeschool website.  Additionally, they have been available, friendly and supportive to those who have called their office with the usual questions about homeschooling–where to find materials and support groups, how to deal with testing and graduation needs, and how to not be overwhelmed with the task ahead.  Now, they are inviting homeschoolers to have a bit of a voice in giving feedback to the County about their needs.

Sarah Tilson is the new Home School Specialist under the Maricopa County Superintendent of Schools, Don Covey.  She is heading up the start of a Home School Advisory Board
