A frequent question by new homeschoolers is, “Are there other homeschool families who live near me?” Most families who are getting started in this educational venture, or who are new to the area, desire to have fellowship and friendships with other like-minded people.
There are certainly areas in Maricopa County, Arizona, which have a greater density of homeschoolers than others, and it is interesting to map out the regions which have larger clusters of home educators. Typically, these locales will have more activities and resources for the students and the parents, as well as a greater sense of community.
The Maricopa County Superintendent of Schools office provides a chart showing each school district and the number of homeschoolers there who are enrolled with the county. Although this is interesting data, there are a few disclaimers to making side by side comparisons:
