Montaigne Scholars Competition: Homeschool scholarships to Shimer College

If your homeschool curriculum has included the Great Books or the Charlotte Mason or Classical Approach, or you wish you had included these things, you may find Shimer College to be of interest.  Shimer is a four-year Liberal Arts Great Books school in Chicago which operates on a less-traditional college model.

Professors are called “facilitators” who are on the same level as the students, with whom they engage in a mutual learning process.  The Shimer College website suggests that those who choose the school have these characteristics:

  • You like to think
  • You’d rather be part of a small college community
  • You  love to read
  • You don’t want to be in a lecture hall

Shimer College is offering a scholarship competition for full and half-tuition scholarships based on reading a piece by Michel de Montaigne and interacting with it.  Selected students will be new to Shimer.
