There is one additional opportunity for Phoenix area homeschoolers to get standardized test scores to qualify for fall membership in Eta Sigma Alpha, the homeschool honor society. Students need to be in 7th-12th grades and score in the 90th percentile or higher on a standardized test (Iowa, Stanford, CAT or specified scores on college entrance tests).
According to the Eta Sigma Alpha (ESA) rules, the test must be administered by a non-parent in a group setting to be acceptable. This puts parents in the position of needing an outside test administrator for the students to have access to the honor society membership. Currently, three sessions of Iowa tests are offered for August, just in time to qualify for ESA’s membership drive in September. (They only accept new students in September and January of each year.)
Those interested need to sign up right away to get the tests ordered in time, before spaces fill up.
- Iowa Test Session 1
- Date: August 4 and 8, 9:00 to 12:30 the first day, 9:00 to 11:00 the second day
- Location: Holly Craw Home Education Services in North Phoenix, near I-17 and Thunderbird
Exact address will be given at registration
- Grades tested: 3rd-12th grades
