Gavin Lewis is a remarkable young student with a vision as big as the oceans. As a homeschooler who has lived in Phoenix until recently, he has had time to explore his passion for restoring the oceans and educating people about the impact of trash. He has gotten national recognitions for his work over the past two years. Currently only eight years old, Gavin has been diagnosed with Type I diabetes. His story shows the outstanding accomplishments an ordinary person, even a child, can make with encouragement and support from his family and friends.
Please give a brief background on your involvement with saving the oceans.
When I was six years old, I decided I wanted to help the ocean after I read a book about how people are hurting the ocean. The book said that there was a garbage patch two times bigger than Texas in the middle of the Pacific Ocean.
