Phoenix area summer reading programs offer free Diamondbacks tickets

Do you have homeschoolers who love to read?  Do you have some students who think reading a book is punishment?  Either way, the Phoenix area summer reading programs offer adventures and incentives to keep the mind stimulated and fresh during the long hot months.

Many of the city libraries are offering two programs, one for all children up to 18 years and one for 12-18 year-olds.  The first is Read, Play, Win! Summer Reading Program that has a free Arizona Diamondbacks ticket as the incentive for reading 20 books.

The Teen Summer Reading Program has a number of prizes for participants:

• A free Harkins Souvenir cup just for registering
• Collectible pins
• Wendy’s Frosty keytags
• Sonic coupons
• A free new book for each student who completes the program by reading 10 books or five hours
• The book  can be selected from a list of top new titles, including “The Hunger Games”.
• Finishers will get a free Harkins movie ticket while supplies last

Both of these programs begin Tuesday, May 29 and end on Saturday, July 28, 2012.

• Wickenburg Public Library

Mark your calendars for a trip to your local library to begin your summer reading program on May 29.  Many homeschoolers will think this is the best part of the school year.
