     Even for your elementary students?

Check out some of the fabulous events here.

The Shelby Kennedy Fountaion is excited to introduce the first annual
National Bible Bee, a motivating Bible memory competition for children
and youth from ages 7 to 18. The goal of the Bible Bee is to build godly
character in young people by calling them back to the lost discipline of
Scripture memorization. Most people are familiar with the Scripps
National Spelling Bee, where youth compete annually in the Nation’s
longest-running educational contest. While it is certainly beneficial
for our children to commit the spelling of words to memory, imagine how
much more life-changing it will be for them to memorize the Word of God!
The long-term vision of the Bible Bee Competition is to equip children
and youth to be bold ambassadors for Jesus Christ to the next

Sign-up is underway to participate this world-class competition where
students will compete in their knowledge of the Bible with prizes
totaling $260,000. To take part in the inaugural year of the Bible Bee,
interested students ages 7-18 must register with their local Bible Bee.

Homeschool Talent Show at Disneyland
September 15, 2009

Hey homeschoolers!!  Do you or your kids (or your local group) have a talent that you are just bursting to share?  We have the perfect arena and are excited to share this opportunity with you.

On Tuesday, September 15, 2009, we have reserved the Trillium Ballroom at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel® in Anaheim, California, for a Homeschool Talent Show from 7-9pm!

Here’s the scoop:
To be able to perform, you MUST submit a video or recording of your talent no later than March 31, 2009  to Southwest Home Educators Association, along with a one page bio of ALL who are planning to perform.

All music, lyrics, and acts must be approved and deemed appropriate by Disney. (clue: dress modestly) Once we receive all of the videos, we will forward them to our representative at Disneyland.  They will review the videos and bio’s and let us know and we will subsequently notify you to let you know if you are going to perform.  Once approved, you will receive a list of rules for the talent show.

Performing in the talent show unfortunately does not include tickets into the park.  If you have annual passes, great for you! Otherwise, you are welcome to purchase tickets through our organization at:  http://www.southwest-home-education.com

Of course, you are welcome to find a better deal, but our Park Hopper® Tickets are less than 40% off the gate price, and they come with up to two YES classes.  This entire event is part of our Not Back to School Days Rally and Conference.  Membership in SHEA is not required to participate in any portion of this event, and no profit is being made.

Feel free to contact me directly with any questions about this opportunity (if you respond on the list, please do not change the title of the post, or I may miss your question):

Ongoing Contest Pages

Here’s a site that lists dozens of writing contests in an easy to read chart.  Most of the contests have cash prizes ranging from $100-$30,000 for the winners.

We are a homeschooled brother and sister who have created math and writing websites for homeschoolers. Both of our sites also include curriculum reviews, a free deadline reminder e-mail service, and other helpful resources.

HOMESCHOOL WRITERS – www.homeschoolwriters.com – Molly has made a writing website for homeschoolers which lists details about dozens of writing contests for kids ages 5-19 in chart format. This is the type of information that our family looked for on the web and couldn’t find without many hours of searching.

HOMESCHOOL MATH CONTESTS – www.homeschoolmathcontests.com – Haddon made a website which has a comprehensive chart of dozens of math contests which are open to individual homeschoolers, as well as a state-by-state list of 164 regional math meets sponsored by colleges and universities.
