Transcript Preparation Assistance

Transcripts are the tools that educators use to document the work a student has done.  They are required for entrance to most colleges, and are needed for many jobs and scholarship applications.  For a home educated student, a transcript is especially important for detailing the coursework  taken and competencies achieved.  I view it as a snapshot of the student’s abilities, interests, and diligence.

Typically, these include the following components:

  1. Contact information of student
  2. Cumulative Credits total
  3. Grade Point Average
  4. Expected graduation date
  5. Coursework by year with grades, credits and grade points

Here is a form that can be used for gathering your data, either for your own compilation or to use my services:  transcriptdataform

Templates: I have some free templates in PDF form that you can download to use as aids in preparing your own documents.

1.  Traditional transcript set up by courses taken each year.  This is the most common form.

2.  Transcript set up by subject.  This can be used if a student has taken more time than usual to complete a course or if the courses per year seem too few.

Transcript Preparation:  Some people want to have the transcript prepared by an outside source to make it more official.   I am available for this service for $20 per hour, with a minimum of one hour.  The more records you have compiled, the less time it will take me to make the final document.

You receive:

  • Two copies of the transcript
    • The official copy for sending to a school will have an embossed gold seal and can be sent to the institution in a sealed envelope if requested
    • Your copy for your records
  • Your information kept on file with me for future updates or additional copies if needed
  • Additional copies with no changes, $2.00 each

Diploma Preparation:  As a homeschool parent, you are able to prepare your own diplomas, which are legally valid documents.  If you would like one prepared for you, I can prepare a page to go in your frame or diploma cover for $8.00.

GPA CALCULATOR TOOL:  After several years of helping home educators prepare transcripts, I came up with a brilliant idea for creating a tool that would do most of the work for you, and would easily figure that pesky Grade Point Average.  It really isn’t a difficult calculation, but it can be cumbersome, even for those of us who are comfortable with math.

The best part of the tool is that once all the classes and grades are entered, everything else is done automatically.  Voila!  you have a GPA score to put on your beautiful transcript, and the transcript is nearly laid out for you!

I set the tool up to reflect a year’s worth of classes and credits–generally for high school or college.  However, it could also be used to keep track of the scores for tests and homework and projects within a class, so you have a running idea of what your final grade will be.  No more last minute anxiety and waiting until the prof posts the grades!

I have looked at other tools on the website, and most are pretty basic and don’t include quite the same functionality as mine does.  I have a price of $9.95 on the download of the tool, but for a limited time, I am offering a free one to people following my blog or my Twitter account.

Check here for details:    I would love to hear your feedback once you have tried the tool out.
